AMTSociety Hosts the Largest Maintenance Skills
Competition to Date!
AMTSociety's 4th Annual Maintenance Skills Competition was held in Las Vegas, February 23-25, 2011 at Cygnus Aviation Expo. It was the largest competition to date with 26 teams, representing four countries and a total of 130 professional craftsmen. Teams were divided into five separate categories: Commercial Aviation, General Aviation, Schools, MRO/OEM and Military.
Each team competed in 12 events, ranging from safety wiring to electrical/avionic troubleshooting to composite and engine tasks. This year's competition saw new entrants from Boeing, Alaska Airlines, UPS, and the Association of Maintenance Professionals (AMP), Hurlburt Air Force Base and a team of AMEs that comprised Team Mexico.This year's William F. O'Brien Award for Excellence in Aircraft Maintenance was presented to Southwest Airlines for the fastest overall time.
