AMTScholarship Program

The AMTScholarships are one way the AMTSociety is committed to help ensure that future aircraft maintenance technicians are recognized for their desire to enter into the skilled aircraft maintenance profession. The AMTScholarships were created to financially assist those currently working towards their credentials to become certified aircraft maintenance professionals as well as assist those already certified in furthering their professional education and training.

Ten $1,500 scholarships are awarded each year. All applications should be postmarked no later than December 15, 2013.

Scholarship criteria and application instructions for:

  • Charles E. Taylor Scholarship
  • William "Bill" F. O'Brien Scholarship
  • Thomas "Tom" E. Hendershot Scholarship
  • U.S. Military Scholarship
  • Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology Scholarship - Aviation Maintenance Technology
  • Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology Scholarship - Avionics Maintenance Technology
  • Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology Scholarship - Nondestructive Testing (NDT)
  • Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology Scholarship - Aviation Technology Management
  • Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology Scholarship - Quality Control Program
    1. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
    2. Must be an AMTSociety member.
    3. Intend to pursue a professional aviation maintenance education.
    4. Provide a 250 word essay about yourself and why you wish to become a licensed A&P technician.
    5. Provide two signed letters of recommendation
    6. Provide most recent high school or college transcript (if applicable)
    7. Provide FAA form 8610-2 (For U.S. Military Scholarship ONLY).
    8. Must turn in a separate completed application for each AMTScholarship that you are applying for.
    9. Submit the completed applications and required materials (outlined on the application) to:

AMTScholarship Application

Scholarship criteria and application instructions for:

  • AMFA Scholarship
    1. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
    2. Must be at least 16 years of age.
    3. Intend to pursue a professional aviation maintenance career and must have completed one semester or equivalent with the training at a FAA Far Part 147 compliant school with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
    4. Provide a 500 word essay using this talking point; “What are the advantages of a Craft Specific union as compared to an industrial union for aircraft mechanics?”
    5. Scholarship funds must be used in one year.
    6. Submit the completed applications and required materials (outlined on the application) to:

AMTScholarship Application

Applicants who are awarded an AMTScholarship will be notified via phone and mail. Winners will be recognized at Cygnus Aviation Expo, posted on the AMTSociety website and mentioned in AMT Magazine. AMTScholarships will be sent directly to the successful applicant's chosen FAR Part 147 aviation certified school or professional training provider.
